⁴⁰ Then Jonathan gave his weapons to his young man and said to him, “Go, bring them to the city.” ⁴¹ When the young man was gone, David rose from the south side and fell on his ^[a]face to the ground and ^(A)bowed three times. And they kissed each other and wept together, but ^(B)David wept more. ⁴² And Jonathan said to David, “^(C)Go in peace, inasmuch as we have sworn to each other in the name of Yahweh, saying, ‘^(D)Yahweh will be between me and you, and between my seed and your seed forever.’” ^[b]Then he rose and departed, while Jonathan went into the city.
